UNDP Washington Internship in United States 2025 (Fully Funded)
Applications are now open for the UNDP Washington Internship 2025 in the United States. The UNDP Washington Representation Office (WRO) is accepting applications for its Fall 2025 cohort, which runs from September to December 2025.
UNDP is offering two internship roles: General Intern and Communications & Outreach Intern, both based in Washington, D.C. This is a paid internship, and selected interns will receive a monthly stipend (exact amount not yet disclosed).
This is a highly competitive and prestigious program, open to applicants worldwide. Interns will support daily operations and gain firsthand experience attending key conferences and high-level meetings.

UNDP Washington General Internship
Interns in this role will support the overall operations of the Washington Representation Office, assist with research, prepare briefing materials, and help coordinate meetings and events. This position offers broad exposure to UNDP’s work in policy, development, and diplomacy. -
UNDP Washington Communications & Outreach Internship
This role focuses on supporting the office’s communications strategy. Interns will help create content, manage social media, support outreach campaigns, and assist in organizing public engagement activities. Ideal for candidates with an interest in media, storytelling, and international development.

Duties of UNDP Washington Internship:
- Attend policy events and provide summaries or briefings for UNDP staff.
- Respond to inquiries and handle requests for UNDP support or information.
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing UNDP-hosted events.
- Maintain and update contact databases, including media, think tanks, and government stakeholders.
- Support the daily operations and administrative tasks of the Washington Representation Office.
Key responsibilities of a Communications and Outreach UNDP Washington Internship:
- Maintain and update content on the UNDP Washington website.
- Support the development of new communication strategies; multimedia skills (audio/video) are a plus.
- Research and gather materials for newsletters, reports, and other publications.
- Monitor media and social media coverage; compile and share daily news clips.
- Assist with outreach initiatives, campaigns, and public engagement activities.

Eligibility Criteria of UNDP Washington Internship:
- Open to applicants of all nationalities.
- Candidates are responsible for securing a U.S. visa, if required.
- Must be enrolled in a relevant graduate program (e.g., communications, international development, economics, public policy), in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree, or be a recent graduate.
- Applicants must plan to return to their studies after the internship.
- Available to work for a minimum of three consecutive months.
- Demonstrated commitment to the values and principles of the United Nations and UNDP.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English is required.
